FASTDRAW II GRAPHICS ALLOWS CHOICE OF MENUS

Fastdraw, Mcauto's low-cost interactive graphics system, was announced in 1973. Some of the user applications include debugging a structural model of a power utility tower; checking design data for portions of an offshore nuclear power plant; and generating design alternatives for sections of the hull structure of a large ship. With the original version of Fastdraw, users were able to prepare the coordinate geometry data of a complex, three-dimensional structure for analysis. At an interactive graphics terminal, the user displayed, modified and manipulated the data already prepared via conventional methods, or he input the data from scale sketches or generated the data using a number of convenient data generation features. Fastdraw II extends these capabilities with several new features, including: Over a dozen traditional geometry construction commands to conveniently create points, lines, arcs, circles and text strings in two or three dimensions; A sophicticated sub-structuring capability to allow the user to design any number of sub-structures to be incorporated in any model at a later date; A flexible labeling feature that gives the user complete control over the labels assigned to points and elements; Options available on the generation commands providing control over the selection of the elements to be reproduced; The ability for the user to design his own menu from a subset of the Fastdraw II commands. A new application interface permits Fastdraw II to access, display and modify the data of practically any geometry-oriented application program. Fastdraw II is fully interfaced to the Tektronix 4000 series terminals and the 4953 tablet, to the Computek Model 300 and 400 terminals and tablets, to the Hughes Conographic 10, 12, and 13 terminals, and to the Zeta 230 and 3640 online plotters.
