A VIEW OF DEVELOPMENTS IN VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEMS WORLDWIDE
The background to vehicle navigation systems is presented and three categories of navigation aid are identified: radio navigation systems, autonomous navigation systems and infrastructure-based systems. These systems are described together with examples. The paper concludes with a discussion of the likely future implementation of dynamic route guidance systems.
