FUTURE SHOCK - DATA FUSION AND SYSTEMS INTEGRATION FOR ADVANCED PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEMS

This paper presents the systems architecture of a concept for advanced public transit systems. The paper also reports on the results of the work done to data regarding implementation. The initial transit segment (portable probes) of this effort was commissioned by UMTA with a pilot program at the Baltimore Maryland Mass Transit Administration in 1988. Further work is now continuing with projects in Denver and Milwaukee and an expansion of the original project in Baltimore. Related IVHS projects such as the CHART Program in Maryland; the CARAT Program in North Carolina, and the GUIDESTAR Program in Minnesota can use this architecture to enhance their capabilities.
