COMPUTERIZED BULLETIN BOARDS WITH A TRANSPORTATION EMPHASIS

The information in this report has been obtained from experiences of transportation engineering professionals and research. ITE Technical Council Committee 4A-43 was charged with developing a listing of computerized bulletin boards with an emphasis on transportation. To accomplish this task, the committee compiled lists of computer bulletin boards from transportation sources and other literature. The focus of bulletin boards was determined from the literature and by direct contact where appropriate. Those bulletin boards which indicated a transportation emphasis were contacted to determine the scope of topics covered, the services offered and limits on accessibility. The findings of this survey comprise the essentials of the committee's report. The list of computer bulletin boards and a brief description of each are included in the Appendix. Also included in the Appendix are a conversational introduction to bulletin boards in general and a glossary of terms.
