ALCOHOL AND THE COLLEGE FRESHMAN: "BINGE" DRINKING AND ASSOCIATED PROBLEMS
This study was undertaken by the Harvard School of Public Health Youth Alcohol-Drug Program in order to learn more about the continuing heavy drinking rate among college students suggested by recent research. The aims were to: determine the specific changes in college drinking since the 1977 Wechsler, McFadden study; determine the types of problems experienced by heavy drinkers; search for factors which may account for the continuation of this high risk behavior.
