The paper discusses the corridor safety improvement programs in North Carolina on what is considered perhaps the state's most dangerous road, a three mile section of NC 226 in the mountains. A brief description is provided of 12 planned improvements which, when fully implemented, will provide the safest environment possible for the existing roadway.
