SPECIAL TOPICS IN CONCRETE PLACEMENT. PROFILES IN CONCRETE PUMPING

This article briefly reviews a number of concrete construction projects that utilized concrete pumping. In the construction of Scotia Plaza, Canada, a combination of a trailer pump and separate placing booom were used. A rapid rate of construction (one floor every 3 days) was made possible by a self-elevating form system, constistent performance from equipment, and good construction management. Other projects noted here are as follows: the Tower Burbank in Burbank, California; Dame Point Bridge in Jacksonville, Florida (pumping was done in the construction of cofferdams, footings, piers, and deck); Lock and Dam No 26 in Alton, Illinois; Gateway Tower in Seattle, Washington; and Liberty Plaza in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
