SPECIAL TOPICS IN CONCRETE PLACEMENT. CONCRETE PUMPING COMES OF AGE

It is noted that concrete pumping is the standard method of placement in high-rise concrete construction. The reasons for the popularity of concrete pumping are also noted: technological advances in both equipment and mix design; enhanced safety and efficiency in operation; and pumping's beneficial impact on the bottom line. The article discusses the advance of pumping technology. The industry's safety record is discussed, and it is noted that pump operators across the country have been certified by the American Concrete Pumping Association after passing a rigorous safety awareness examination. They have also benefitted from educational material promoting safety. Comments are also made on operation efficicency.
