This article attempts to describe the role of water in concrete, as well as what has to be done to produce more stable and durable concrete. Mix water quality (fresh water, non-fresh water, water temperature, cement freshness, organic admixtures, coping with impure mix water) is discussed, as well as mix water quantity. Aggregate characteristics are covered, as well as temperature and admixtures.
