SITE INVESTIGATION FOR THE SYDNEY HARBOUR TUNNEL. SEVENTH AUSTRALIAN TUNNELLING CONFERENCE; THE UNDERGROUND DOMAIN, SYDNEY, 11-13 SEPTEMBER 1990; PREPRINTS OF PAPERS

The paper describes work undertaken to assess alternative routes during the feasibility study and detailed investigations for final design. The methods used for on land and over water investigations are summarised and examples are presented of typical geotechnical models for the northern and southern approach tunnels, interface areas and the immersed tube. Summaries are given of engineering parameters of the major units encountered in the approach tunnels and the trench for the immersed tube. (Author/TRRL)
