SUB-SEA ROAD TUNNELS AT ALESUND, NORWAY. SEVENTH AUSTRALIAN TUNNELLING CONFERENCE; THE UNDERGROUND DOMAIN, SYDNEY, 11-13 SEPTEMBER 1990; PREPRINTS OF PAPERS

This paper provides details of the contractors experience from three sub-sea tunnels near Alesund, on the western coast of Norway. The tunnels from Alesund to Ellingsoy, 3483 m long, and from Ellingsoy to Valderoy, 4175 m long, were opened in October 1987, after a construction period of 16 months, and the tunnel from Giske to Godoy, 3850 m long, was opened in March 1989 after a construction period of 16 months. In addition the island of Giske was linked to Valderoy with a bridge of length 552 m, delivered to the client October 1987 after a construction period of 15 months. (Author/TRRL)
