SILANE TREATMENT OF CONCRETE BRIDGES . PROTECTION OF CONCRETE. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE, SEPTEMBER 11-13, 1990

The application of silane to concrete bridges is required by the Department of Transport and Scottish Development Department for repair, new construction and bridges less than 6 years old. An investigation into two bridges in the marine environment has indicated that silane penetration may be minimal and that if applied after a significant period of marine exposure and chloride ingress, no significant differences in chloride content between treated and untreated areas can be perceived; however half cell potentials show a slight reduction in activity in treated areas.
