TECHNICAL HARMONISATION OF CONCRETE PRODUCTS . PROTECTION OF CONCRETE. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE, SEPTEMBER 11-13, 1990
Technical harmonisation is an important requirement for the successful implementation of the integrated European market. For concrete products, as for other construction materials, the achievement of technical harmonisation is presenting challenges across the whole field from the technology of the constituent materials of concrete through to the structural design of concrete construction. The paper reviews, against the background of the developing European legal framework progress in the preparation of European standards relating to concrete construction. Limited comparative studies of practice in concrete production and use in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are described to illustrate the wide ranging nature of differences in practice. Finally the impact of European technical harmonisation on current practice locally is discussed. (Author/TRRL)
