FACTORS OF CONSTRUCTION ERROR AT PROTECTION . PROTECTION OF CONCRETE. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE, SEPTEMBER 11-13, 1990

In civil engineering, the protection of concrete is very important. The purpose of this protection is to keep the compressive strength of the concrete above the characteristic strength determined by worldwide standards. The desired concrete characteristics should be achieved during production and protected while it is being used. Since this is an extensive subject, the study has been diversified and divided into three parts. Firstly the factors which have an effective role in the quality of production have been examined. This stage was achieved by research undertaken at the regional quarries of Denizli in Turkey, where the samples were taken. Secondly, constructional defects were researched at the reinforced concrete buildings in Konya. Finally, the influence of negative environmental effects on reinforced concrete buildings was investigated and protection methods are discussed. (Author/TRRL)
