In this study, the performance of the trucking industry in the midwest is examined through financial measures of a cross-section of motor carriers. The second section presents the results of interviews conducted with management from selected motor carriers. These interviews provided additional understanding of the changes that occurred in the trucking industry during the 1980s and identified areas of concern for the 1990s.
