ARTERIAL SIGNALS IMPROVEMENT SUPPORTS MAXIMUM CAPACITY
Article describing improvement of traffic capacity in four intersections in Memphis, Tennessee by using signal controllers. Transyt 7-F was used to come up with existing delays and number of stops in each individual intersection; PASSER II-84 was used to optimize the timing plan for progression of the entire system. HCMS, Transyt 7-F, and PASSER II-84 are different programs for traffic signal and signal timing analysis. They are available from McTrans, University of Florida, Transportation Research Center, Gainesville, Florida 32611-2083.
