MOVING HINGE IN LARGE-DISPLACEMENT PROBLEMS
This paper presents proof of the moving hinge equation from an engineering viewpoint. Attention is focused on the characteristics of the curvature jump at the moving hinge and the way the plastic energy is dissipated. Derivation is conducted both algebraically and graphically so that the full meaning of this technique is properly conveyed and better understood. The paper also shows how a moving hinge is different from and related to the classical stationary hinge.
