COMPRESSIVE SOFTENING MODEL FOR CONCRETE

This study proposes a strain-space-based plasticity model to represent the softening as well as hardening behavior of concrete materials under low lateral confining pressure. The general strain-space formulation is presented in some detail, and the incremental stress-strain relations are given in a tensorial form. The proposed model, which incorporates with the Lade type of loading function and plastic potential function, requires only a few parameters. Using the triaxial compression test data, the model parameters are determined with relative ease and then model simulation is performed to demonstrate the representation capability of the model.
