GEOTEXTILES IN COASTAL ENGINEERING PRACTICE
Coastal protection structures with use of geotextiles as a filter and separator layers in Poland are presented. Characteristics of soil in front of and behind the structure where the material had to be installed with characteristic of the particular geotextiles used as filtration or separation layers, are compared. Conclusions and suggestions based on laboratory investigations of some parameters of geotextiles, such as tensile strength and ultimate elongation break, biodegradation resistance degree against fungi and bacteria present in soil, permeability properties, disruptive strength and resistance to stratification of geotextiles, are presented.
