DURABILITY OF CABLE STAYS FOR CABLE-STAYED BRIDGES

Several types of cable have been proposed and used for cable-stayed bridges. Furthermore, it is possible for each type of cable to be applied in several corrosion protection systems. Factors related to the corrosion protection of cables are discussed in this brief paper, and a long-lay cable is proposed, call "NEW-PWS", that does not require job-site work for corrosion protection, and achieves both high-tensile and high-fatigue strength.
