ANALYSIS OF THE UNDERGROUND SYSTEMS IN LATIN AMERICA. IN: URBAN TRANSPORT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: LESSONS IN INNOVATION

The analysis of Latin American underground systems presents several particularities resulting from their specific location and set of problems. This paper presents a description of current characteristics of the Metros, in terms of their physical features, performances and present relations with surface systems. It also summarizes the principal points of discussion, reviewed in the light of facts presented before; finally, questions are asked in an attempt to organize what seem to be the essential elements of the debate and the participating variables at this level.
