A LOOK AT WHAT SOME STATES ARE DOING ... SIGNING PACKAGE AVAILABLE TO SMALL CITIES IN ARKANSAS

This note describes a program designed to assist small cities and counties in Arkansas with the purchase of traffic control devices for maintenance and construction work zones. Working with The Univesity of Arkansas and the Federal Highway Administration, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department designed a package to provide sufficient devices for typical work zone applications. The package, which costs approximately $2,500 each, consists of several different types of barricades, traffic cones, advance warning signs, and other miscellaneous items. Over the past two years 63 cities and 2 counties have received packages purchased with Federal-Aid Section 402 funds.
