The purpose of this paper is to estimate commuter rail station commutersheds using a standard technique in the transportation planning field. Commuter rail system characteristics important in a park and ride commuter's station choice decision will be identified, and station commutersheds will be estimated. The purpose of this analysis is to offer means for accurately estimating suburban commuter rail commutersheds based on distance to the station and a number of system characteristics. It is intended to offer a basis for a comprehensive commuter rail station market area analysis by identifying station characteristics important in a park and ride commuter's station choice. The commutersheds developed in this analysis are not station market areas, but rather estimates of a station's likely area of influence.
