THE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR NITROGEN OXIDES (NOX) AND VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (VOCS) AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY

The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) requested in October 1988 the development of a management plan for the control of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). That plan was finalized and submitted to the CCME in November 1990. The purpose of the plan is to (1) solve Canada's domestic NOx and VOC related environmental problems; and (2) meet Canada's international obligations. The paper provides an overview of the plan.
