SPEED MANAGEMENT THROUGH TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
This issue of 'Accident Analysis and Prevention' is concerned with speed management. It offers a fairly comprehensive overview of the state of the art of urban speed management by means of engineering measures. Papers are developed from a number of contribution to a seminar on Speed Management in Urban Areas held in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 1990. This issue of the publication shows that there is a considerable international consensus on the use - and usefulness - of technical measures as a tool in speed control. Also, it is apparent that some projects reported in this issue go far beyond speed control in local areas. Speed management is seen as an integral part of urban transport and environmental planning.
