This paper presents an elastic analysis of a submarine pipeline under operation conditions, which is conceived as a continuous beam subjected to unilateral supports without the discretization of the beam. Flexibility and stiffness approaches are used to derive two alternative formulations. A numerical example is described to verify the formulations. The details of the study and the results are described. It is noted that in general, the stiffness formulation requires less effort in the data preparation, while the flexibility formulation is computationally more efficient.
