RF DATA COMMUNICATIONS CONSIDERATIONS IN ADVANCED DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) and its subset Advanced Driver Information Systems (ADIS) have generated a new challenge for communications technology. Some of the communications technologies that may be considered for IVHS/ADIS implementation are described, with an emphasis on wide area radio-frequency data communications. The steps in designing a radio-frequency data system for IVHS/ADIS are reviewed, and design trade-offs are presented and discussed.
