PUTTING PAID TO WATER LEAKAGE COSTS

Earlier, water ingress was accepted as an unavoidable evil when maintaining tunnels and other underground structures. Todya, advances in technology and in man-made materials have proved on several tunnelling projects that ever-increasing maintenance costs incurred because of wet leaking tunnels need no longer be accepted by owners - providing sufficient consideration is given to this aspect of tunnel design at feasibility stage and that money is made available.
