VERIFICATION OF LOAD DISTRIBUTION AND STRENGTH OF SEGMENTAL POST-TENSIONED CONCRETE BRIDGES

This paper outlines the use of several computer programs originally developed by Professor AC Scordelis for prediction of load distribution, deflections, and key internal stresses in segmentally constructed post-tensioned box girder bridges. Comparison with experimental results shows generally excellent agreement, even for highly non-symmetrical live load placement. In addition procedures for estimating the strength of such structures, including moment redistribution, are included. (Author/TRRL)
