AN ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE BEAMS INCORPORATING THIN SKINS OF POLYPROPYLENE REINFORCED CEMENT FOR TORSIONAL RESISTANCE

A woven polypropylene mesh has been used to reinforce a cement matrix and thin skins of the composite have been incorporated as surface reinforcement on plain and reinforced concrete test beams. Results of torsion tests on eight beams are presented. These show that the addition of the composite skins produces increased torsional strength, ductility and substantial control of torsional cracks. (Author/TRRL)
