APPLICATION OF ZERO BASE TECHNOLOGY: AN INTERFACE TO MEET GLOBAL COMPETITION
The author discusses his company's, Time Manufacturing Systems, concept called Zero Base Technology. It entails using the best technologies to reduce non-value adding investments, resulting in an approach that can be selectively applied for specific future process technology needs. This requires moving from experienced-based manufacturing systems to scientific-based systems, where no-value adding items are minimized. Zero Base Technology suggests reducing to zero, or minimum, any motion, mass, operation or equipment in a manufacturing system that does not add value to a product.
