VIBRATION CONTROL OF BEAMS BY BEAM-TYPE DYNAMIC VIBRATION ABSORBERS
The paper proposes a dynamic vibration absorber for a beam that consists of an uniformly distributed connecting spring and damper and a beam having the same boundary conditions as the main beam. The equation of motion of the system, rearanged using the modal coordinates of the main beam, was shown identical to that of the two-degrees-of-freedom system with two masses and three springs. The optimum tuning method for the subsystem with the two-degrees-of-freedom system was obtained by the Den Hartog method. Numerical examples indicated the optimim tuning method described here to be useful.
