TRAINING AND EVALUATION IN COMMUTER RAILROADS

Paper discussing the state-of-the-art in training and evaluation in commuter rail. It expounds on the importance of evaluation and recommends how evaluation could be used to ensure an effective training effort. The paper begins with a brief history of commuter rail and training in commuter rail, and discusses the role that training and evaluation can and should play in commuter rail agencies. Evidence from case studies, conducted by the authors, of training at commuter rail agencies in the New York City metropolitan region is presented.
