CONGRES ANNUEL 1991 DE L'ATC, COMPTE RENDU, VOLUME 5. SEPTEMBRE 15-16, 1991, WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA

This paper describes the development of an accounting process using Bar Code technology that provides accurate daily summaries of materials received, facilitates the control of legal weights for haulage vehicles used, and allows day to day control over the disposition and use of imported roadbuilding materials. The paper also includes a description and summary of a Ministry of Transportation of Ontario trial project using Bar Codes on weigh bill invoices for Hot Mix Bituminous Concrete products and includes a discussion of the hardware and software necessary for printing and reading Bar Code symbologies. A significant recommendation is made promoting the industry-wide acceptance of a common Bar Code symbology.
