CONGRES ANNUEL 1991 DE L'ATC, COMPTE RENDU, VOLUME 2. SEPTEMBRE 15-16, 1991, WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA

This paper describes in detail the durability and aesthetic features incorporated into the Kildonan Bridge, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The bridge is a twin structure crossing over the Red River, with each structure consisting of two continuous five-span steel trapezoidal box girders. Total length of the structures between abutments is 291 m. The girders support a composite cast-in-place concrete deck. The river piers for the bridge are founded directly on the limestone bedrock, while the shore piers and abutments are supported on steel and concrete piles driven to bedrock.
