ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF ROAD SALTING. IN: CHEMICAL DEICERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Based on a survey of current knowledge of the environmental impacts associated with the application of sodium chloride to roads, this report provides a theoretical basis for the preparation of Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communication's (MTC) Environmental Assessment Reports. Road salt is the major chemical pollutant involved in MTC undertaking, and Ministry planners are frequently required to assess the environmental impacts of its application.
