URBAN ROAD DEVELOPMENT AND CITY PLANNING. IN: EXPERT MEETING AND SYMPOSIUM ON THE SEMINAR ON FUTURE ROAD TRANSPORT SYSTEMS AND INFRASTRUCTURES IN URBAN AREAS, JUNE 4-6, 1991, CHIBA, JAPAN
Urban road development has become a critical issue to deal with chronic traffic congestion and to lead to desirable transformation of urban structure, while recent increases in land price has added another difficulty in implementation. In this paper, problems on urban road development are first reviewed, and a new line of approach including appropriation of development benefit and multi-story utilization of urban space is discussed.
