ASSESSMENT OF INDEX TEST METHODS FOR GEOTEXTILES

A comprehensive programme of Index testing was initiated by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory following a review of geotextile test procedures provided in an earlier publication. The first stage of the testing programme has been undertaken by the Department of Civil Engineering in the University of Strathclyde. The test procedures used conformed to published British Standards, or to draft International or British Standards in an advanced stage of preparation. The data resulting from the test programme is being used to compile a "Geotextile Database" that will allow geotextiles and related products to be classified and their properties to be correlated.
