MULTI-LEVEL ROADWAY NOISE ABATEMENT. FINAL REPORT

Noise from multi-level roadways poses a serious problem in the congested urban settings where such roadways are used to conserve precious urban real estate. This report addresses this problem and proposes a workable solution, which calls for adding acoustical absorption to the underside of the upper deck(s). Additional benefits can be had if roadside noise barriers are used in conjunction with the absorptive treatment. The approach is cost effective for crowded urban areas where large numbers of people are exposed to the noise pollution created by this type of design.
