A variety of new train is being built for use through the tunnel, ranging from the largest trains constructed to run on standard gauge track to carry cars, road coaches and HGVs, to other trains with the ability to run in the UK, France and Belgium at higher speeds than most trains. Other important considerations are the need to keep trains moving in the event of partial failure, massive communication requirements, signaling interface requirements and extensive fire precautions. These proceedings cover developments on their implementation in association with the future operation of the Channel Tunnel. The proceedings also provides an update on all aspects of rolling stock design and developments in use in the tunnel.
