STOCHASTIC OPTIMIZATION OF A NETWORK LEVEL BRIDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. PROCEEDINGS, SIXTH CONFERENCE, ROAD ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF ASIA AND AUSTRALASIA, 4-10 MARCH 1990, KUALA LUMPUR, VOLUMES 1 TO 5 AND POST CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
This paper describes the methodology utilized in a modular Bridge Management System (BMS) to select optimal maintenance scopes of work for a network of bridges. This BMS is part of an overall Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) that integrates a Pavement Management System, a Nonpavement Management System, and a Bridges and Structures Management System. The B&SMS includes optimization of bridges, tunnels, and culverts. The BMS described here is the bridge portion of the B&SMS. Fig. 1 provides an overall picture of this Markovian based optimization bridge management system. For the covering entry of the conference see IRRD 823206. (Author/TRRL)
