COMPUTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR KUWAIT HIGHWAY PROJECTS. PROCEEDINGS, SIXTH CONFERENCE, ROAD ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF ASIA AND AUSTRALASIA, 4-10 MARCH 1990, KUALA LUMPUR, VOLUMES 1 TO 5 AND POST CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

A project management system has been designed for the motorway and expressway projects in order to provide current information on the progress of these projects. This has enabled the Roads Administration, MPW, Kuwait, to obtain a quick and efficient information system that gives the latest developments of the projects. The hardware and software requirements of the system are an IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible with CGA/EGA card, a minimum of 20 Mb disk space, 640 K memory and dBase III Plus/Clipper with a custom made graphic library interfaced to the application program. The contract data and progress of works are updated from monthly reports arriving from the sites on floppy disks. Through the query based structure of the system, rapid replies to detailed enquiries framed by the user are possible. These include contract details, monthly progress of works, contractors and consultants details, payment information, initial and final status, current projects and others. Moreover, the graphic summary reports (bar charts, s-curve and pie charts) produced by the system display the progress and present situation of the works in relation to the total amount of work and time, the sources of delay and overruns, if any. For the covering entry of the conference see IRRD 823206. (Author/TRRL)
