QUEUES IN THE RANDSTAD, SOLUTION ON THE TRACK? SUMMARY REPORT

FILES IN DE RANDSTAD, OPLOSSINGEN OP HET SPOOR? KERNRAPPORT

A study was carried out during peak hours in the corridor between the cities of Dordrecht and Rotterdam where traffic congestions and queues occur every working day. For the basic report see IRRD 837865. The report presented here is a summary report in which the main results are presented in graphs with explanatory text. Four interviews were held (1) a survey of car users who travel towards Rotterdam over the Brienenoord Bridge (the main bottleneck) betweeen 6.00 and 10.00 m om weekdays (2) a written questionnaire of train passengers aged 18 years and older, sitting in the train from Dordrecht to Rotterdam between 5.00 and 10.00 a.m. (3) an interview of a sample of car drivers who had participated in the written inquiry; this is the main part of the study in which amongst others the best reasons for using a car and the possibilities for a change from the car to the train are determined, and (4) a small written questionnaire of persons who were passengers in a car making use of that corridor.
