SEMI-ANALYTIC SOLUTION OF SKEW BOX GIRDER BRIDGES
A semi-analytic procedure is presented for the analysis of simply supported skew box girder bridges. The structure is idealized as an assemblage of parallelogrammic strips. The degree of accuracy of the method is shown by numerical examples and the results are compared with finite element analysis and model tests. The results obtained are generally as accurate as those obtained using the finite element methods, yet the finite strip method offers clear advantages in simplicity of use and preparation of data. In particular, the finite strip method gives complete continuity of results along the length of each strip.
