MODEL TESTS OF BEARING CAPACITY OF A WEAK SUBSOIL REINFORCED BY GEOTEXTILES. REINFORCED SOIL AND GEOTEXTILES, PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOTEXTILES CONFERENCE HELD AT THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BOMBAY, INDIA, DECEMBER 8-9, 1988
The study is concerned with rigid foundations acting on soil reinforced by a horizontally arranged geotextile layer in a plane strain state. Experiments refer to a two-layered soil medium, made up of silty mud in its lower part, covered with fine-grained sand from the Lubiatowo area and loaded with a rigid strip foundation model. Also an evaluation of increase in the bearing capacity of soil in the subgrade is given, expressed as the BCR (bearing capacity reinforcement) factor and typical displacement zones at the various loading stages are documented by series of photographs, taken for each experiment. For covering abstract of the conference, see IRRD 836241. (Author/TRRL)
