SLUMP CONTROL AND PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE WITH A NEW SUPERPLASTICIZER. I: LABORATORY STUDIES AND TEST METHODS . ADMIXTURES FOR CONCRETE: IMPROVEMENT OF PROPERTIES. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD BY RILEM (THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF TESTING AND RESEARCH LABORATORIES FOR MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES), BARCELONA, MAY 14-17, 1990

A new superplasticizer containing reactive polymer has been studied as a new technology for slump control. Fresh concrete is well known to lose its workability with time. This phenomenon is called "Slump loss", particularly high water reduced concrete has remarkable extent. To find a new method of solving the slump loss problem, a new superplasticizer (Mighty 2000) was developed. This new superplasticizer enables the workability of fresh concrete to be optionally controlled for a required working time. This report describes the technology and the method of slump control by the newly developed superplasticizer. Some properties of concrete with the new superplasticizer are also reported.(A) For part II see IRRD 833380. (TRRL)
