UNDIVIDED SAFETY . PROCEEDINGS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NEW WAYS AND MEANS FOR IMPROVED SAFETY, TEL AVIV, ISRAEL, FEBRUARY 20-23, 1989

A common action of the various organizations dealing with prevention and rehabilitation enables the existing multifarious preventive measures and the possibilities of their application to be funded jointly more effectively. In this way, funds available for prevention can be used much more efficiently. Specific accident prevention work and accident research of the organizations dealing with occupational safety has led to safety in the occupational area being much higher than in private life. Transferring this experience to other areas of life may contribute to an essential improvement of the social protection of the working population. Accidents, regardless of whether they occur at the workplace or in the private environment, give rise to hugh expenses for rehabilitation and compensation claims, and also to considerable expenditure for lost time which has to be borne by the employer. The organizations responsible for prevention and rehabilitation and the empolyers are therefore directly interested in making all possible efforts to reduce accident hazards in close cooperation with each other in order to improve safety at all times. The Deutscher Verkehrssicherheitsrat and the trade association developed at the beginning of the 80'S; the programme "Safety At All Times." The main aim of this programme is to make the 20 million employers more sensitive to the risks and dangers of road traffic and occupational safety. (TRRL)
