DURABILITY ASSESSMENT OF ALTERNATIVE DRAINAGE PIPE MATERIALS. FIFTH NATIONAL LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING CONFERENCE, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, 24-29 SEPTEMBER, 1989

A comparison of abrasion resistance of alternative drainage pipes is made based on Full Scale Testing in accordance with German Standard DIN 1230. Reinforced Concrete, Fibre Reinforced Cement, Galvanised Steel and Clad Aluminium Alloy are evaluated. Interpretation of test results in the light of structural design requirements for each pipe type provides meaningful, reliable and practical guidelines to the design engineer in the selection of economical and durable drainage materials to satisfy project requirements.
