TELEMATICS WITHIN THE DUTCH TRANSPORT ENVIRONMENT, A GENERAL COMPARISON . TELEMATICS. TRANSPORTATION AND SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT. PROCEEDINGS OF AN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ORGANIZED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE CENTER FOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING, DELFT UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, HELD IN THE NETHERLANDS, APRIL 14-15, 1988

This paper provides an overview of the electronic information systems in the transport environment currently available in the Netherlands. The development of these systems was aimed at own objective groups. The system and objective group (a domain) is linked by specific technical, commercial and operational protocols. As possible lines of future development, the growing need for an integral use of domains where customers can also use the services of domains other than that subscribed to can be noted. This requires the further development of world wide standards and regulations. Some examples are given of standardization already achieved. (Author/TRRL)
