3-D ELASTIC ANALYSIS OF THREE-PILE CAPS
This is an attempt at a three-dimensional elasticity solution of three-pile caps using Galerkin vectors. The method consists of the superposition of 3-D elasticity solutions of a rectangular block with four different patch loadings. The components of the Galerkin vector for a rectangular block are expressed as a double-fourier series. Stresses are calculated for three-pile caps for different depth-to-pile spacing ratios. The pile cap is treated here as linearly elastic, homogeneous, and istoroptic because elastic stress distribution can provide a starting solution and form an essential basis for more refined studies.
